Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
When a visitor enters a name or case number into a third-party search tool displayed on the site, the query goes to the provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and returns its own results. Hennepin County Court Docket does not keep or log the search terms entered through those tools.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If someone sends us an email, we retain the message so that a response can be made. The message remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the site’s servers may receive technical information associated with the visit, including:
- The IP address assigned to the device
- The device type and operating system
- The browser and its version
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
- The referring site, when one is available
- Timestamps for page views
Cookies and Analytics
The site uses cookies, which are small files placed on a device, to understand traffic patterns and page use. Analytics services help aggregate that information. A browser can be set to block cookies, although some site functions may then behave differently.
What We Do With This Data
The limited visitor data described above may be used to operate and improve the site. Uses include:
- Maintaining site availability and performance
- Sending a search query to the appropriate partner service
- Diagnosing and correcting technical problems
- Understanding which pages visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may be relevant to visitor interests
No Court-Record Data on File
Hennepin County Court Docket does not host, maintain, compile, confirm, or sell court dockets, Registers of Actions, hearing calendars, or personal case-record databases. The site provides general information about official routes for Hennepin County District Court records, including Court Administration, the Records Center, and MCRO. MCRO itself is an official access channel, but its remote results are not certified copies. This site does not assemble visitor information into consumer reports or records about other people, and it is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Search boxes displayed on this site may be operated by outside companies. Information submitted to a partner is governed by that partner’s privacy policy, data-retention practices, and sharing rules, not this policy. Review the partner’s policy before submitting a query because Hennepin County Court Docket does not control the partner’s handling of that information.
Links to Other Websites
The site links to official resources such as Hennepin County District Court Administration, the MCRO information page, and other court-access materials. A visitor who follows an external link leaves this site, and the destination’s privacy policy controls that visit. Read the destination policy before providing personal information.
Some advertising partners may track activity across sites to show targeted advertising. That tracking occurs on their systems, not on ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Information may be disclosed to the following categories when necessary:
- Search partners that process a query entered through their tools
- Analytics providers used to measure traffic and performance
- Advertising networks that place advertisements on site pages
- Law-enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
We use standard security practices intended to protect collected information. No internet-connected system is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee that a security incident will never occur.
Users Under 18
This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from people under 18. If we learn that a minor has submitted personal information, we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Depending on where a visitor lives, privacy or consumer-protection law may provide additional rights concerning personal information. Hennepin court-file access is instead governed by the Minnesota Rules of Public Access to Records of the Judicial Branch, including Rule 2, Rule 4, and Rule 8. Those rules concern Judicial Branch records and do not make this private resource the keeper of a court file. At a minimum, a visitor may:
- Request a copy of personal information we hold about that visitor
- Ask that inaccurate personal information be corrected
- Request deletion of personal information
- Opt out of certain forms of data processing where applicable
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this privacy policy. A revised version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
